CHRISTMAS ON THE STREET

This was Christmas on Orchard Road, Singapore three years ago. Parade is always on during 25th of December. It goes with theme each year. I wonder how did it go this year. I miss this event, where all people were on the street with their families and watch the floats of different colors, designs and themes.

It was such an event in Singapore during Christmas. This is another attraction to expect, in addition to the well lighted Orchard Road, for tourists who come visit during the season.

HEARTRENDING

Photo: taken at Marine Parade, Singapore

My heart goes to the victims of the recent typhoon that hit the southern part of our country, particularly Cagayan de Oro, Philippines. It was such a shock that stupefied me for days. I can not comprehend how now can this be a season of joy when victims are in grief for their loss, and with our people’s empathy with fellow countrymen’s sufferings. It was just too much to bear.

Once had i experienced losing our home to fire and it felt like end of the world when everything was gone in an instant. Relocation to us was easy or maybe not, but bearable. Thinking of this typhoon calamity, the transition i know would be gradual. I was just overwhelmed with the help coming copiously from different parts of the country and abroad, of which, i hope would somehow ease the pain in every victim’s heart. Making them perceive, even just for a moment, that there are a lot of people out there who still care and trying to make them feel a little warmer in this low point of their lives. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

MEMORIAL DAY

We (with niece and nephew) came to visit my father's grave in Makati early Monday morning. Right after, we went straight to Greenbelt. We dropped by the chapel and sat on the park for awhile. Enjoying the air blowing lightly. Sky was nice and weather was not that hot. We enjoyed looking at the kids playing by the fountain. I wanted to take pictures of them but parents might call my attention for that. One mom blew some bubbles over the kids. Such a wonderful moment when little kids tried to burst bubbles. Benches were occupied as well as the tables from the coffee shops behind us.

Look at how the scenery made on this old man's face. It was my niece's hand below the photo, by the way. I really enjoyed the day, like a break off from the rat race. I definitely need more of this kind of day.

IGUANA SMILE

Mobile shot by Kurt @BioResearch

An Iguana smiled at Kurt during one of his school field trips. An unusual moment to see such creature moved and gave a smile. What a cutie!

AT TM LIFESTYLE

We are under Typhoon Juaning and with Signal storm no.2. Grade school classes were suspended. Well, storm used to tame after classes were suspended. LOL! So we took the time to go to the mall to get my birthday gift for nephew Kurt. Our destination: MOA. Shop: Team Manila Lifestyle. What he got? A commemorative shirt of J.Rizal's 150years. Color: Pink because he's on the pink team and he needed one. Photo of that shirt we will share on next post.

LIGHTS UP!

Here is a stolen shot (as taking pictures not allowed) of a decorative chandelier suspended on the center lounge area in one of the clothing shops we went to before. Those ornate lighting fixtures usually get my admiration. Dopeness! I love the color!

ART OF WINDOW DISPLAYS

My nephew getting a closer look at the window display

I have a penchant for shop window displays & interior designs. I always do give them the"stop (coz i can not help it) -stare (coz i was amazed) -admire (coz i was thinking how they'd do that)" look. Another thing that i want to take pictures of. It was just bad at times that "no taking pictures" allowed inside most of the stores. The shot above was taken just quickly when my nephew got fascinated with the charming display of this shop which i can not remember the name. Anyways, the notion and composition of this was just captivating. He said to me that it was just like a setting from a fairtytale story. The textures and materials used like those of the animals were like real especially that of the wolf on top of table on the other side of the window. The lights illuminated and enhanced the scene. Kurt said he even forgot that there was glass there in between them that he hit his head on.

I just can not wait for the holiday season in December when shops tend to do enormous effort and budget just to put up an amazing & eye-catching window displays just to capture the full attention of the passers by. I do love walking past these shops!

DOODLING, DUDE!

Just doodled this as the pencil touched my hand.

The kids were doing their homeworks and they were into phases of lines. They were in the room doing their drawings so i joined in and did my lines and curves too. This was inspired by the portrait that a friend want to have in SL. It has been long that i did some sketches or any drawings. The last i did was Naruto (a cartoon character) for my nephew. Now it made me think, I should have pursued any course on the arts or designs and maybe these skills i could have improved and put to use. I admit, though i am good with the degree i took, it was not what i want to do. Yes, wrong choice of career i think. But i am still hopeful for the future(well i hope it is not too late) that i may still embrace the dream i have inside...in God's time.

HERE COMES THE RAIN

It has been raining for days now and it stopped just now while i am doing this post. Weather was worst before this. Intense heat all over the country. It even caused death of tons of fishes from decreased in the water Oxygen level.

Anyways, this rain; though a mess; cooled us a bit. I hope to have more cooler nights!

I was able to get these waterdrops from a leaf. My settings was not ready though and it was not that sharp. But I am grateful to have captured the moment. I wanted to do more water shots in the future. I hope i got more time to be with my cam and take more with it.

One of nature's patterns. Another thing i want to take pictures of...up close. Maybe i can do that when it is not raining anymore.

Be cool and keep yourself dry!

TAKE AWAY THE BLUES

I love books!

I've heard about this one from my cousin in Australia. I've searched for it and was not able to get a copy until last month!

The coolest thing was i got it hard bound with a cheap price tag on it! Greatest deal i got that day after spending 2 hours killing time @Booksale shop.

This book is "a wonderful collection of amusing, poignant animal photos and inspirational text designed to lift the spirits of anyone who's got the blues."

Bears' cuddles, and puppies' smooches

"No one who has lips will be able to read it without smiling; it's guaranteed."

Smile and take away the blues...

LOVE WHAT YOU DO!

I got inspired by the LOVE STORY campaign of Blackberry.

Concept started when Will.i.am of Black Eyed Peas in a show in Sydney Australia smiled and asked a fan for her camera and turned it on himself and said: "Even if no one listened to the music that we made I would still love what I do, because I love music from the bottom of my soul to the top of my soul to the inner of my soul, I love what I do!"

The Love Anthem by Will.iam

In these campaign where creatives and their passion with their crafts. Here is one of the love story....

GO GREEN

I am glad green-thumb runs in the family. Here's a plump gourd produce freshly cut from my Uncle's backyard. I always like homegrown produce like healthy and fertilizer free fruits and vegetables. We keep a little garden at home also and at times we plant some vegetables like bitter gourd, okra and red chili. In the sense that not only you can get them fresh from your backyard, you can also save a portion of your budget.

Make use of your spare land or space to grow produce. You can save financially and you can also help save the environment in your own little way.

OUR GARDEN

I took some shots in our garden.
Our little fairy still here though got broken wings.
Some of the cacti which survived all these years..
A new life clinging on branches...
For the love of flowers here are some late posts of flower arrangements @Changi Airport.

These stargazers lilies are one of my faves ever!
These red crab claw flowers (heliconia) never fail to be on the center piece...

We used to have these Dancing ladies orchids in our garden. What a beauty of nature!

In this blog you will find lots of flower picture posts for these are the things my eyes fancy! :)
